Ethics & Sustainability

At IMAURA we take sustainability seriously. In the production of each garment we are thoughtful on how we can take steps to minimise our environmental impact. Garments are designed with longevity in mind. We prioritise the use of fabrics which are natural and lower-impact materials wherever possible.

We are on a journey evaluating our business in an effort to improve our impact on the planet. We’ll continue to explore new research, materials, and sustainable solutions and share these insights openly with our community. Any collaborations or partnerships we form will only be with brands who share these values.

Our commitment to ethical production means partnering only with certified suppliers who comply with modern slavery regulations.

United Kingdom

Our knitted vests are created right here in the UK!

Our manufacturer focuses on ethically sourced yarns using primarily British wool, merino wool and lambswool. All yarns are sourced from UK suppliers to reduce their carbon footprint. Our manufacturer also uses LED lighting in certain areas of the factory and the new machines are now single phase motors which also reduces energy usage.

Portugal

Our Portuguese factories regularly carry out audits to ensure compliance with social standards and maintain certifications for fair labour practices. Sustainable practices prioritize fair working conditions, ensuring that workers receive fair wages and have safe working environments. When it comes to ecological practices, they are active in improving their environmental impact by using eco-friendly materials and minimizing water and energy consumption, where possible.

Amsterdam

Our scarves are all made by our friend based in Amsterdam. As a brand, we love offering work to small businesses, and this one is definitely one close to our hearts. Our knitter founded her company in 2022 and hasn't been without knitting needles since! All yarn is ethically sourced, and all the scarves are made solely by her, so cherish those babies!
